Introduction This unit focuses on Black History Month and the celebration of African Americans.  Following the steps provided will guide students to the creation of a research paper, a powerpoint presentation, a museum or an informational poster.

Task You are to select one of the African Americans to research and write a biographical research paper, a biographical powerpoint presentation, a shoebox museum or an informational poster.  Students do NOT have a choice of assignments.  Some will be required to work independently and some will be required to work in an assigned group.  Work is to be done at home and during school; students are NOT to leave all research materials at home each day as they may have the opportunity to work during school hours.  All contracts indicating their assignment are to be signed by the student and the parent and presented to the teacher by Monday February 13, 2006.  Included in the contract is the agreed upon biographical subject.  The person of focus MUST be approved by the teacher before the contract is signed by the parent.  The project is due Friday February 17, 2006.
